Road safety and prevention

The Villeneuve-les-Béziers municipal police force is committed to ensuring road safety by taking part in road safety activities.

Prevention

For several weeks from Friday 18 March 2022, CE1 and CE2 pupils from the Georges-Brassens school group have been taking part in the first phase of the pedestrian driving test to prepare them for the APER (Attestation de Première Education Routière - Certificate of First Road Safety Education).

Local police officers presented the scheme in the form of a slide show and fun quizzes to help children easily assimilate the basic rules of road safety.
Teachers and the Municipal Police will be responsible for ensuring that progress is made before the assessment, practical application and awarding of diplomas to the winners.

Safety camera

The purpose of speed cameras is to raise driver awareness.

  • This type of radar records each vehicle several times as it passes in front of the detectors.
  • The data recorded are: date and time, speed recorded, etc.
  • it displays the speeds recorded when the vehicle is approaching the radar, but it records speeds in both directions

This data is very important for the municipality, as it provides information on the different practices of drivers.

Control zones

The municipality is subject to radar speed checks at random points throughout the year.
