Flood protection: an ambitious project

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 : 𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐮𝐱 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐯𝐞-𝐥𝐞̀𝐬-𝐁𝐞́𝐳𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬

For years, Villeneuve-lès-Béziers has had to contend with the risk of flooding, threatening both residents and our infrastructure.

Today, an ambitious project is underway to strengthen the security of our community and safeguard its future.

𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲́𝘃𝘂𝗲𝘀 :

Construction of a 3 km dike, with a height varying between 1 and 2.8 m.

Reinforcement of the Canalet hydraulic structure.

Development of water expansion and retention basins.

Installation of a modern, high-performance pumping station.

𝗖𝗼𝘂̂𝘁 𝗱𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝘁: 6 million euros, financed as part of the GEMAPI (GEstion des Milieux Aquatiques et Prévention des Inondations - management of water environments and flood prevention) remit, carried out by the Béziers Méditerranée urban area.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗣𝗿𝗲́𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘃𝗲-𝗹𝗲̀𝘀-𝗕𝗲́𝘇𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, this project embodies the municipality's commitment to protecting everyone.
