All citizens aged 16 must register at their local Mairie. Their legal representative may do this on their behalf.
Since 1999, boys and girls born on or after 1 January 1983 have had to register in their birthday month.
A census certificate is issued, along with an information booklet on the new national service.
Exhibit :
- Family record book or birth certificate
- Valid identity card.
